Residential

Kitchens, dining rooms, boot rooms and bathrooms, we will design yours perfectly to suit your household.

We work with each client in varying levels of collaboration for the design and specification of individual house extensions, home remodels, interior home renovations, building conversions and new exceptional homes.
We design and supply new kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms, working regularly with large companies, including Handmade Kitchens of Christchurch, Omega Plc for Mackintosh kitchens, deVOL and Ultima so that we can offer a wide spectrum of styles and costs, and local carpenters for bespoke pieces. Our design and specification services support each client's mission to create unique and functional rooms.

We start with an introduction meeting where we take a good look at your project scope to see how best we can help you. The benefit for our clients is a detailed design with a specification suitable for installation with the option of an accompanying materials report and an itemised and organised hyperlinked shopping list, which gives you the ability to make direct purchases that match the design and specifications we have created.

Depending on your available time, we can provide you with project management. We will make your purchases, arrange deliveries and coordinate trades. We undertake regular site checks and send progress reports back to you if you are not based on the site, and is the ideal choice if you are time-poor.
Our Services
• Existing room/s assessment – as-built existing, part-built or an architect's plan. It's often a combination of all three. Upon instruction, an accurate full-room survey will be undertaken. This starting point will provide the details for us to produce accurate room plans and plot your project, allowing for the correct calculations to build up costs and timelines.
• Home Consultation – getting a clear idea of your style, ViP components, features, textures, and a better understanding of the space. Using a combination of questions and answers, images from magazine articles, and inspiration from hotel stays and away days, for example, there are many sources to collate loved styles for the melting pot.
• Design Brief – a further consultation will enable me to finetune the components, confirm how you would prefer to purchase things to achieve your requirements, and gather any new thoughts since our last meeting. I will summarise everything in a design brief. This will be sent to you for any last additions or subtractions. You will respond to my written interpretation of your needs before we start the design work.
• Design Proposal – we provide detailed scaled designs supplied as a pdf for print—both plan and elevation drawings. The design detailing will incorporate fixtures, fittings, soft furnishings and finishes and be suitable for a builder/fitter to complete the works. We will sit together and review the proposals and sample boards and tie up any details and specifics before it is finalised. Optional lighting designs can be commissioned.
• Project Reports – A complete package including the Project Specification, an itemised product listing with details, costs, product sources and special notes you should know, like special offers or long lead times. This report is organised to prioritise the current product lead times to simplify ordering; it will be based on costs that can be readily sourced at the time of compilation. Some elements may be in-house H-B Designs and supplied, others from known reliable sources. Hyperlinks are included for your easy future project purchases and cost management.
• Project Management - coordinating trades and logistics for you in your home. This relieves you of the juggling act of sourcing, deliveries, and labour management and is the better choice if you are not based on site or have other priorities.
Following the Introduction Meeting, we will provide a design and specification fee proposal for your consideration based on the services listed above and also aim to provide a rough ballpark project cost at that early stage to assist with your budgeting.
