New Slender Cycle Building

2 September 2015

Following a site visit and discussions with stakeholders to determine the most suitable location on the site and scope for the new facility, a full RIBA plan of works and provisional costs were provided in order for the client to bid for funding.

The grant was awarded and we were engaged to redesign to budget then supply & install the new building and cycle parking. Quickly the client opted for us to undertake the planning application too and following a meeting with the borough transport planning department, where the benefits of ACCP [Advanced Compact Cycle Parking] were demonstrated, the borough parking standards were improved to include these special secure cycle stands – providing 10 more secure cycle spaces within the same footprint than the previous standard hoops would.

Working to a strict project budget and within school holiday slots, the foundations were laid and connections to existing services made for electric supplies and rain water away. The building was assembled and cycle parking fitted in readiness for September lectures starting once more.

Our Slender Cycle Store Features

Security door for recorded user access only - codelock and key system

Lobby area for getting kit on/off & bike checks - weather protected area off the main footway

30 cycles parked with individual lock off points  - security within the building itself

Toughened & Laminated glass for natural light  & IP54 LED Panel Lights for darker days

Corporate colours – special finishes to match the college identity

Designed for future proof additional building – the lobby would be central and another 30 cycle spaces and associated building can be added as demand grows.

Slender is a great shape for areas where only a long space is available
